Libary Institutions and the Query

When an Individual sits at their desks at work, one wonders what their work will be related to anything in the library field. In this discussion, I will discuss the field of a query and how to relate librarians ability to answer a query and how to answer a query necessary for any institution it serves. Taking an example from Reference and Information Services in the 21st Century by Kay Ann Cassell and Uma Hiremath, and individual must respect the professional behind the desk but at the same time understand that a librarian in any profession is taught and trained to be a help, not a hinder to any assignment. In answering questions, the research or reference librarian has certain questions that are asked that could cut out all the unnecessary time it would take a business administration major to search for the same material. Some of these questions are between open ended, and closed ended. Here is an example of a closed ended question, Do you need current or historical information? Then there is, How much information do you need? (Cassell & Hiremath 2006, p19) As a librarian in any institution it is critical to know how to pose questions for a query in finding the information so there is no waste of time.


Time is precious for any company, business, small company, and students. So narrowing down the search and knowing how to search is a must.
