The Business Life

So What Can We learn about the Institution itself in Libraries, and how they apply to the business world in general? For one, Libraries operate like a business. There are budgets, websites, information, documentation, mail, emails, queries, operations, clerks, administrations, academics, communications, and philosophies that run through a standard library. These are some of the examples.

This of course is why one must ask one self, if you become a librarian are you marketable in other places besides say, the library? The answer is yes. A librarian can function in any work place, just like a business woman or man, or work as a librarian maintaining their information more effectively that a business assistant or administration assistant.

For one, when I was applying to the CIA for instance (don't ask what made me do it) they were hiring a Librarian. They would of paid 45-50K. If the CIA needs a librarian to keep all their information straight, surely a normal business would need a librarian to operate their documents in a more education and managed system. Information after all needs to be maintained, and filed efficiently. Depending on the department, a cataloging system might need to be in placed to make sure items can be found in an efficient matter. This is all in the bigger scheme of things. But in a small case summery, an Institution of any size, or any subcategory can operate so much more efficiently if only they had a librarian to help them out with the process.

This is just a thought of the day.

You know what's funny Arielle? I talked to the CIA at the job fair about their librarians. Great job but you would have to relocate. I agree with you, Librarians and their education in research can be used in all careers and walks of life. It wouldn't surprise me if a few lawyers had a history in Library Science or educators as well. Library Science could be considered a very versatile degree.

Did you go to the CIA's website and try to apply? Just don't tell me, gotta keep these things hush hush.
