I guess I should introduce my job in the future. Libraries! But the problem is, there aren't enough qualified librarians for the positions available in my surrounding community. So they are taking individuals without the ALA certification, cause with the ALA certification they have to pay better, give better benefits, and give them breaks during the day. Anyone without that certification, and union membership, has no backing in the industry and they have no union arguing for their rights as individuals to get that health care package, to argue their "lay offs" for budget cuts, and to even watch out for those minimum wage workers in the library.
In these economic times, it is time to understand that when people cut back on their taxes, that the taxes do go for services in your community and pay people's salaries. They also go for the purchases of new books, and the activities, and when you go to the library imagine a world without it. Would you want your library to go Private? Cause if you keep cutting back taxes, that is where it will end up. private, and membership will be paid and not free, and books will be borrowed will have a higher late fee. you already don't like paying for late fees, imagine paying for a fee of even just borrowing it, then a late fee? Or waiting in long lines.
This is just food for thought.
